Ft Monmouth was a nice place to be stationed. I wasn't all that wrapped up with the state of New Jersey but it was a nice post.

While stationed there I became a part of the Firing Squad. Each company maintained a Firing and Burial Squad for military funerals. We took care of things on the weekends so the Honor Guard could have some time off. Every sixth weekend we had to remain in quarters in case something came up. Beat hell out of cutting grass! It got us out of after school details. However, the weekend could get a bit long. When we got interested in storm sewers you can bet we were bored. It turned out to be a rather fun afternoon and a very nice photo session.
